Twitter character background

So I've been involved in a Twitter Repo! RP for a while now, and started out just playing myself, but there's something of a shortage of OCs in departments other than Claims or Medical (i.e., GENterns).

I created Elizabeth Burkett, left-hand henchgirl, (named in honor of Alisa Burket, the actress who played her).

I was bored tonight, so I actually wrote down the backstory I've had for her.

It is said that every career at GeneCo either starts with a tragedy, or ends with one. Elizabeth Burkett hasn't interrogated enough employees to ascertain whether this is accurate, or even close, but it has the ring of truth, and her own story certainly fits.

She had just turned eighteen, just graduated high school, with all the shining hopes and dreams in place that such an event would suggest, when her younger sister fell ill. Terribly ill, in the way that ends either in a funeral or in a small, white-walled room, signing a contract with “GeneCo” embossed across the top. She needed three organs – a kidney and a pair of lungs – and Elizabeth's mother was on disability and could barely make her own heart payments every month. Elizabeth determined that her best option was to get hired at GeneCo, giving her sister access to the family-of-employee discount, and make the payments herself.

With only her diploma, and lacking both the inclination and the natural figure to be a GENtern, Elizabeth applied for an entry-level security position.

GENcops received bonuses for pursuing additional combat training, so Elizabeth signed up for everything that was offered that she could work around her schedule. Shotgun, rifle, various kinds of hand-to-hand, edged weapons, ranged weapons, she studied it all. What she proved to be the best at, “A natural crack shot,” her instructor praised her, was the pistol. After she won the gold medal at the Southern California Regional Championships, she was invited to both the state competition and to take the Bodyguard Class I test.

By the time she took the silver at Nationals, she was already studying for the Bodyguard Class II position.

GeneCo has three classes of bodyguard: Class I, which protects upper management and special guests; Class II, which protects the residential floors, the head of Surgical Research and Development, and Blind Mag; and Class III, which protects the individual members of the Largo family.

Elizabeth had been with the company eight years when she was assigned to Mr. Largo's personal guard, a position she has held for the past seven years. She is the Class III supervisor, which mostly involves setting everyone's schedules, reviewing and summarizing all security reports, in addition to her regular duties as Mr. Largo's personal bodyguard. She is also the one he calls upon the most often to perform special tasks, such as shooting the messenger, kidnapping little girls, and using a shock-stick on mouthy repo men. The “GENtern” who snuck the poison in to kill Marni? That wasn't Elizabeth, but if it were ten years later, it would have been.

In general, she considers herself married to her job, as her loyalty to the Largos, and Rotti in particular, is primary in her life. She hasn't had a Christmas off in a decade, or taken a vacation in seven years. Dating is mostly for other people, though she'll occasionally go out for coffee with a colleague.

You've spoken about her before, but I never knew much about her. Thanks for sharing.

Oh, also, I noticed a typo:

Class I, which protects upper management and special guests; Class II, which protects the residential floors, the head of Surgical Research and Development, and Blind Mag; and Class I, which protects the individual members of the Largo family.
