It reminds me of the Vorkosiverse, where Cordelia is thinking about how Betans who have children in vivo declare that it's "superior" and produces better children, even though she was in vitro and her brother in vivo, and she hasn't really noticed a difference between them, and her sister-in-law had both her kids in vivo and "bragged about it rather a lot." It's just the breast feeding/formula argument redux, really. Ladies! Always looking for ways to be superior to one another! Likely the stigma against women who conceive and carry will be similar to that against women who have children, as opposed to childless women and men (because as we all know, men have no child-rearing commitments, and when they choose to indulge their wives by taking care of their children, it's called "baby-sitting" and should be applauded wildly). Women with children have been losing out on promotions and raises since they entered the working world, really. Misogyny, it follows us even into space.
