I was going to make an opt-in filter for my Exalted game, but I decided that if you're not interested in reading my roleplay blather you can just NOT READ IT not to.
Elegant Lotus was born into a lesser branch of one of the 11 Great Houses, a family that has been Dragonblooded for as long as there have been mortals Exalted to the status. As if that weren’t pressure enough, the last ten generations have developed a tradition of only having a single child, who then Exalts on his or her thirteenth birthday. Lotus’s father, a warrior named Glorious Horizon, was murdered in front of him by a rival house when the boy was only eight. His mother, Iron Rose, and her brother, Mighty Bear, are acting as regents until he comes of age, but he immediately started putting pressure on them to allow him to go to school early, so that he might take his place as head of household as soon as he Exalts. Seven Dragons was the school that agreed to take him the soonest, just before his ninth birthday. He has taken double courseloads for the three years he’s been at school, plus additional classes during holidays, succeeding due to a mix of his own high intelligence and sheer stubbornness, exhibiting a work ethic second to none. His grades aren’t perfect, but they’re high enough for his professors and advisors to let him continue. While his academic standards are high, his primary focus is on the martial arts and his love is the art and skill of diplomacy and communication. He also dabbles in calligraphy and painting.
His backing is his powerful family, and his tendency to “make friends and influence people” wherever he goes. He has cultivated a small group of intelligent, talented, or powerful people that he considers friends; most of them (like Exquisite Hammer) are at least five years his elder. Despite his own personal obsession with Exalting, he sees great value in those who have not, particularly because of their tendency to be underestimated by society - and therefore responsive to his flattery and charm. The two people closest to him are his manservant/bodyguard, Grey Waterfall, who has escorted and protected him since infancy, and his familiar, Dark Nation, a kitten-shaped creature of unknown origin (he claims that he found it) that is always at his side, often riding on his shoulder or snuggled in a coat pocket.
One aspect of his life that he refuses to talk about are his constant nightmares, which occur in one of two flavors - either reliving his father’s murder, or dreams of failure (not being ready for class, failing tests, and the most popular one, failing to Exalt).
